Number sequence rules (the families to memorize)
Practical, no-fluff guidance designed for repeatable improvement.
Most number sequences are variations of a few families:
- Arithmetic: add a constant (+3, +7).
- Geometric: multiply (×2, ×3).
- Alternating: +a, +b, +a, +b…
- Second differences: squares/cubes (growing gaps).
- Two-step rules: ×2 then +1, repeated.
Speed trick: Check differences first (term-to-term), then differences of differences.
